Bree Gant

bree gant is a multidisciplinary artist and documentarian interested in ritual and mental health. Their practice emerges from self examination and social documenting, often in the forms of photography, film, and installation.

bree graduated from Howard University in 2011, the year Washington DC’s headlines announced it was no longer Chocolate City, and moved back home to Detroit just before the city declared bankruptcy.

She has been invited to exhibit and speak with institutions, conferences, and festivals like the Detroit Public Library, Allied Media Conference, BlackStar Film Festival, Contemporary&, Red Bull Arts, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Today, bree spends a lot of time elbow-leaning at the window, walking to the river, and praying.

Currently googling samskara, anti-inflammatory diet, and best places to see the heart of the Milky Way in Michigan.
