    SoundCloud, a self-publishing and distributing audio platform, becomes so commonly used that a subgenre of rap is created called “SoundCloud rap,” also known as Mumble rap. SoundCloud rap introduces a younger generation of rappers that come onto the scene.   

    A year after Cardi B. transitions to rapping from being a reality TV star, Megan Thee Stallion raises to fame with her infamous female empowerment phrase, “Hot Girl Summer.” Whilst also seeing a wave of women rappers; City Girls, Doja Cat, Remy Ma, Lizzo and Tierra Whack to name a few.
